World leaders met November for the annual Climate Summit in Dubai. The conference, held two weeks, brought together more than 190 countries to discuss how to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Many experts argued that progress has been too slow recent years. Despite promises made in the 2015 Paris Agreement, global emissions have continued to rise. The new plan aims to achieve carbon neutrality 2050, but several nations are calling for stronger commitments to cut emissions the next decade.

Protesters gathered outside the venue the opening day, demanding more concrete action and accountability. Inside, negotiators worked long hours night to reach an agreement.

The final text was announced Sunday morning, just hours before the official closing ceremony. Critics say that while it shows some ambition, real change must happen the next few years if the world is to meet its targets.
