But is it really better than going to the office? This lesson looks at the advantages and disadvantages of remote and hybrid working, and gets students talking about their own working and study habits. This B2 version uses an article about remote and hybrid working to teach workplace vocabulary and to get students debating the future of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Level:<\/strong> B2 \u00b7 <strong>Time:<\/strong> 45 to 90 minutes. Pick the activities that suit your class. They work in almost any order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lesson Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/reveal\/picquiz.php?w=13e3d750\">Warmer: Picture Reveal<\/a> &#8211; Reveal the picture tile by tile. Where is this? What is the person doing? Students guess before the whole picture is revealed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/sentence\/match.php?w=aa16b1e3\">Vocabulary: Pre-teach the Key Words<\/a> &#8211; Match 10 words and phrases from the article to their meanings before reading (commute, productive, drawback, isolated, switch off, compromise&#8230;).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reading: Working from Home, Freedom or Isolation? &#8211; An article with 12 gaps. Choose <a href=\"\/cloze\/exercise.php?w=ce13f9a8\">without a word bank<\/a> or <a href=\"\/cloze\/exercise_hint.php?w=ce13f9a8\">with a word bank<\/a> for extra support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/categorise\/activity.php?w=4cba1690\">Vocabulary: Advantages and Disadvantages<\/a> &#8211; Students sort 10 ideas (no commute, feeling lonely, flexible hours&#8230;) into advantages and disadvantages of working from home. Ask students if they agree with every answer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/cards\/cardset.php?w=3af1c3da\">Discussion: The Future of Work<\/a> &#8211; 12 discussion questions on productivity, commuting, returning to the office and what offices will look like in 20 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/ranking\/exercise.php?w=a5771bce\">Speaking: Ranking<\/a> &#8211; What do you need for a great home office? Students rank nine things, from fast internet to a pet for company, then compare with a partner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Teacher Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For a shorter lesson, use the warmer, the reading and the discussion cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Language focus: ask students to find the linking words in the article (however, instead of, while, too) and use them in their answers to the discussion cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow-up: students write a short email to their manager asking to work from home one more day a week, giving reasons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching a lower-level group?
