This lesson tells the story of the street-fighting teenager who became a martial arts legend, a film star and a cultural icon, and gets students talking about learning, discipline and being &#8220;like water&#8221;. This A2 version uses his life story to practise the past simple and vocabulary for sport and work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Level:<\/strong> A2 \u00b7 <strong>Time:<\/strong> 45 to 90 minutes. Is it old or new? What is the person&#8217;s job? They check their answers after reading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/sentence\/match.php?w=3d251573\">Vocabulary: Pre-teach the Key Words<\/a> &#8211; Match 10 words from the text to their meanings before reading (fight, train, teenager, waiter, strong, role, suddenly&#8230;).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/cloze\/exercise_hint.php?w=60cecad8\">Reading: Bruce Lee<\/a> &#8211; A short graded biography with 10 gaps and a word bank.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/cards\/cardset.php?w=6e46c13e\">Discussion: Sport, Films and Learning<\/a> &#8211; 10 conversation questions about action films, martial arts, childhood hobbies and learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/ranking\/exercise.php?w=3416a75f\">Speaking: Ranking<\/a> &#8211; What would you most like to learn? Students rank nine skills, from a martial art and a new language to coding and first aid, then compare with a partner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Teacher Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For a shorter lesson, use the warmer, the reading and the discussion cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grammar focus: the reading uses the past simple for his life story (was born, trained, went back, died). Ask students to tell the story of their own childhood hobby in the same way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow-up: students explain what &#8220;be water&#8221; means to them, with an example from their own life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching a stronger group?
